This article is a guide to creating an account, and the process of installation of Love.

Getting Love

Love can be downloaded from the Join section of Quel Solaar.

Love is made available as a simple zip archive, there is no traditional installer included. There is no automatic updating mechanism for Love, as yet. Love will prompt you to re-download the Love zip archive when necessary, from the in-game login screen.

Launch Love by running love.exe. Creating a shortcut in your start menu or on your desktop is highly recommended!

Free Trial

Yes, there is a free trial. It's not exactly straightforward or written in big letters on the main Love website, but it involves getting permission to use somebody's friend account. See the friend account page for more details (it's actually rather easy). Note that you can only log in and play on a friend account when the associated primary account is logged in!

Getting An Account

Before registering for an account, ensure that the demo world that is played when you launch love.exe runs. Update your graphic drivers if there are any issues. Intel graphic chipsets are not supported.

An account can be created by clicking Create Account on the main window when you launch Love. It is only shown when you are not logged in. Follow the steps onscreen, and take the following advice:

  • Take note of your primary username and password.
  • Take note of your friend account username and password.
  • There is no password recovery feature, and your username and password cannot be changed at this time.
  • Choose a server... See below.
  • Referring someone grants you additional game time
    Each paid account receives one friend account free. This allows a friend to play whenever the associated primary account is online.

After registering for an account, you will need to purchase game time. See below for information.

Selecting a Server

Here comes the the tough decision, which region server do I choose to play on?

Atlanta 1

It seems throughout the alpha test, the most active server has been Atlanta 1 (ATL1). The popularity of ATL1 may have a correlation to the notorious downtime that ATL1 is known for. If you are not close to ATL1, don't fret, Love handles latency extremely well. People from as far as Australia and the UK play on the US servers without any noticeable issues.

If you choose not to play on ATL1, the servers located in and UK are perfectly acceptable alternatives.

United Kingdom

This server is highly recommended for anyone in Europe or Asia regions.

Acquiring a Voucher

To play Love, you must purchase game vouchers. Vouchers are offered for €10 (click for conversion) and grant you 180 days of access to the Love servers from the point that you redeem your voucher inside the game when logged in.

To purchase a voucher, make your way to the Love Join page. Be sure to read the terms of service on that page.

Soon after purchasing your voucher on Paypal, an email similar to this will welcome you to Love.
