A friend account is created when somebody sets up their main Love account for the first time. A friend account can only be used when the main account corresponding with it is logged in. It can be used to play Love freely with a friend or significant other, make sure that your buddies never have an excuse to not play or as a community-enabled free trial.
It is not uncommon that a friend account has a non-unique in-game name.
A Friend Account as a Free Trial
Often times, Love players will freely give curious new initiates access to their friend account in case they don't want to shell out €10 for a month's subscription voucher before trying the game, or if said newbie (or oldbie) can't wait for their shiny, new voucher to arrive in their e-mail.
Don't be afraid to ask if somebody could give you access to their friend account! Most of us are here to share the love, and sharing friend accounts just goes with the territory. The official Love Teamspeak server would be a good place to ask, as well as the Gaming Love Forums.
