It is important to note that Love does not feature regenerative health, like most recent first person shooters that have been released. Fortunately Love has opted to leave out fall damage. Love uses a traditional pick up an object to regenerate health approach, but with a slight twist.
Inital Health
Players spawn with the max health, 255, whereas the AI spawn with 100. The defecit allows the AI to gain health, just like players can, so sometimes it can take more damage than normal to kill an enemy. Check out the Weapons page for the damage rating of weapons.
Player health can be regenerated from:
- Picking up Power pods from AI and player deaths.
- Health Pods - from Health Manufacture of players or AI. Health regeneration is not instant, it happens gradually.
- Power Pods - from Power Manufacture heal 50 health.
- The action of re-spawning at a Checkpoint or Monolith restores health to 255.
AI health can be restored by Health Pods and power pods.
Power Versus Health
Power and health are two entirely different systems within Love. Your power level is indicated by a figure in the bottom area of your HUD, and health is indicated by the two letterbox bars that frame the Love gameplay. These bars will transition from black (full health) to an intense red. An example of the separation of these two systems is that: you could have 3000 power but have a critical health rating.
Power pods include both a boost to your power meter and your health. You may not recover completely from one power pod.
If AI shoot you, your power does not go down only your health does.
