When enemies get close, an electric beam, much like a power beam, will be projected towards the target at its maximum range. Any enemy who stays within that range will be insta-fried. The Tesla turret requires power as well as line of sight to function correctly. This makes tesla turrets easy to bypass on ice, simply raise every 2nd or 3rd tile in a staggered fashion on approach (using Smooth Edit), then surround the turret with ice pillars. That's gg.
Players can take advantage of unpowered tesla turrets (and all other kinds of turrets too) and use them as convenient out-of-base defenses simply by re-powering them.
