Too many times in the short period I've been playing the game has our base been crippled through the inability to find a blue base, and subsequently having no power. As it stands, this means no generator, windmill, deposit(currently considered a generator), so no self power. This also means no reflectors, and what with all the surrounding power wells bricking when the 'lith goes down, chances are you won't have one in range without raising a reflector incredibly high.
On to my suggestion then, which is that all(or most) AI will have a power generating token, so that the absence of one colour will not doom a base. Here's the way I see it:
Blue: keeps generator, reflectors and deposit (they are the power tribe after all)
White: windmill (I rationalise this by thinking of the other "windy" objects they have such as flags and tents)
Green: hydroelectric (small output(3?), placed adjacent to water, huge output during apocalypse(10?))
Yellow: solar (fair output(6?), but only during the day)
Red: Geothermal (only generates power when sunk below the monolith, small constant output. 2 units?)
the numbers might need tweaking to balance, but I believe this will greatly increase the longevity of bases, while still having exploitable weaknesses, and of course, the AI will be using their own flavour of power gen themselves. Comments?

This is dangerous, but I agree, we need hydroelectric power plants...... Maybe even solar panels as well.... but one thing is certain, Monitor Lizards are pretty much the best tank in the game.

Since we have mines now... mineral power station? Players stock it with minerals and it consumes them over time, perhaps even at a configurable rate?
I think in general there needs to be better spread of tokens between the tribes - defensive tokens (turrets/explosives) could also be spread out a little. Perhaps some of the new turret types given to the other tribes.
i would agree with this.
i would agree with this. power is, obviously, THE thing that controls a base's success. the other day i built a base not far off from a big blue base, so i had 12 power wells within range. as soon as we got manufacture power, we were basically unstoppable. unfortunately the server crashed or something while i was gone for like 10 mins.... but you get the point. we made an epic base with several turrets in 2 hours (3 players) because of the power wells, normally that takes more than a day.
