Are the terrain that settlements once occupied supposed to turn to ice now? The latest settlement in Atlanta 1 in the R pyrosphere has turned to ice, in addition to the Hobbit Town Revival in the Kadeshi Junktion.

From what I remember, settlements such as Grand Central, the Y, the Cross etc used to stay put, the only thing that changed was its tokens disappeared, the terrain stayed the same.

The Pit-Forests/Glaciation are/were definitely pseudo-new. Either something happened with the Director confusing player settlements with AI settlements, or this was Eskil's attempt at removing all traces of player settlements from the world, à la AI settlements.
On a side-note, the Pit-Forestation was quite fun to watch. I big rift would open up in the ground and slowly expand. Said rift was filled with trees for some reason though.

Before Eskil reset the server
Before Eskil reset the server (that's before the buggy cave settlement near the south pole) settlements used to turn in to craters filled with trees.

Must be a new "feature" on the server end.

Interesting, we had this
Interesting, we had this "rift with trees" issue today, too. Seems the director started to alter our settlement and destroyed the monolith.
We replaned the monolith but a short time later the director ripped very deep chasms into the settlement.
Guess it was this "director tries to reclaim an old settlement place" thingy.
Sounds about right
