i believe this is an issue with how the map is generated. it looks to me like it's displaying the full area, just distorted. if it were taking a portion projected off of each of the 3 pyrospheres it's in contact with, then it would be getting all of the surrounding area to the corner, and the area the map is showing, would on the actual planet be a perfect sphere, but since it's projected from the square pyrospheres not directly above the map, each 120 degree section is given to the map as slightly smaller, more like 110, resulting in this 30 degree or so blank spot.
perhaps try just drawing a line from center of the world, through map token, and up then projecting a circle that is the map from a point on that line?
